Lake O-numa in Hokkaido
The area is also famous for its 18 bridges connecting the islands in the lake. Lake O-numa, located in the southern part of Hokkaido, is part of O-numa Quasi National Park, together with the nearby Ko-numa and Junsai-numa marshes. Lake O-numa is 24 kilometers in circumference and was formed by the eruption of Mt. Koma-ga-take.

Matsumae Castle in Hokkaido
Matsumae Castle (Matsumae-jo) belonged to the feudal lords who ruled the southern regions of Hokkaido between the 17th and 19th centuries. Its predecessor, Fukuyama Castle, was completed in 1606. It was reconstructed in 1854 to prepare for attacks by foreign ships.

The Museum is situated in Mt. Okura Ski Jump Stadium, the venue of the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics as well as many other international tournaments, including the 1994 FIFA World Cup. It was established in 2000 to promote winter sports and exhibits documents on winter sports and their history.
